What is Baseband Unit (BBU)?

The baseband unit, also known as Baseband Unit (BBU), is a key component in mobile communication systems. It is mainly responsible for processing digital signals and performing functions such as modulation and demodulation. The baseband unit is usually located in a wireless base station and is used to implement signal modulation, demodulation, encoding, decoding, etc.


The baseband unit receives data from the upper layer network, and after digital signal processing, converts it into an analog signal suitable for radio frequency transmission, and sends it to the user equipment through the radio frequency link. At the same time, the baseband unit also processes the signal from the user equipment, converts it from analog signal to digital signal, and transmits it to the upper layer network.
